I liked Before Watchmen better when it was called Watchmen.
I actually don’t get this project. It’s not like the original Watchmen took place exclusively in the present day. More than half of that book is flashbacks fleshing out all of the characters’ backgrounds and origins! Why would a prequel series to something like that ever be necessary?
Yeah, this is as blatant a money grab as I’ve ever seen. There is no reason to cover something that was already thoroughly covered in the original. Heck, one of the things that made Watchmen so great was that it focused on explaining what had created and what drove each character in the story. To do a prequel about the genesis of characters, based on a book that largely focuses on the genesis of those characters, is just about as pointless and redundant as you can get.
